For a while now, Diaryland has supported RSS. For instance, here's a link to my diary's RSS feed. Too bad it doesn't work. I use Feed On Feeds, which is a server-side aggregator of feeds based on MagpieRSS. Magpie is a stickler for correctness in the feed, and I've get mine or Marilynn's to validate in it. Sigh. I understand fully the idea of implementing an 80/20 solution; you do the bit that meets eighty percent of your needs and leave the other twenty percent until you actually need it, because usually it takes at least as long to do that last twenty percent as it does to do the first eighty. Unfortunately, in XML correctness is everything. You need a 100/0 solution. Something deep down tells me that I should either upgrade MagpieRSS in my old version of Feed On Feeds, or I should write something of my own that builds my own RSS feed. Or maybe I should just get busy writing my own code and get off Diaryland. Don't I say that a couple times a year? Anybody ever notice that Diaryland seems to have load issues right around 5:00 PM? I used to think that it was when people are getting off work, but then I realized, it's when people are getting home from school — remember Diaryland's primary market. I'm not in that demographic.
